Syncing from mobile to NextCloud

  1. Download and install the android Nextcloud client: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nextcloud.client
  2. Open the app and click Login
  3. Enter the DCS NextCloud server address for Diverge:address: https://cloud.diverge.ggdarkmyre.dev and click the right arrow
  4. Click login, and enter your DivergeDCS login details. When prompted for account access, click Grant Access.
  5. Follow the app prompts to enable the necessary device permissions (Ok ⇾ turn on File Access ⇾ click back button on device)

You’ll now be able to access your cloud files from your device. The following steps setup syncing from your device to the cloud:

  1. Click the three-line ‘hamburger menu’ button and select Settings
  2. Under the heading ‘More’, select ‘Auto Upload’
  3. Click the three-dot menu button next to the folder you wish to sync, and select Configure
  4. Click the ‘Preferences for Auto Uploading’ toggle to enable the config
  5. Tap ‘Remote Folder’ and browse to the cloud folder you’d like to sync files to (or leave it set to the default suggestion if you’re happy with it). When you find the right folder, click Choose to return to the previous screen.
  6. Turn on/off the next few settings according to your preferences. Note that if you turn off ‘Also upload existing files’, it will ONLY sync any new files.
  7. Under the “Original File Will Be” setting, you have three options:
    1. ‘Kept in original folder’ = the file will be synced to the server and left where it is. This is useful if you still want to use other sync apps like Google Photos in addition to Nextcloud.
    2. ‘Moved to app folder’ = the file will be moved to Nextcloud’s app folder on your device. This is useful if you don’t want to sync to Google etc, but still want to easily edit/etc the file.
    3. ‘Deleted’ = the file will be synced to the server then deleted from the device. This is mostly useful if you have low store space on the device. You can still download the file back to the device at any time by browsing to it within the Nextcloud app.
  8. Click save to enable the sync. The first time you do this, you’ll be prompted to disable Battery Optimisation. This is technically optional, but if you don’t disable then you may need to open Nextcloud to force it to sync.

Repeat these steps for each folder you’d like to sync.
